| Client | A Muslim marriage app serving the UK, US, Canada and India (name withheld) |
| My role | Freelance SEO, content and outreach |
| Period | Since September 2026, ongoing |
| Focus | Coverage in community publications, and content that answers real questions accurately |
The challenge
In a niche this specific, the list of free, relevant publications is short, and many sites that accept guest posts are link sellers or networks. The content also has to be accurate on religious questions, where one weak source damages trust.
What I did
- Researched more than 150 publications across Muslim community media, South Asian diaspora titles, UK wedding and relationship magazines and UK regional newsrooms
- Took contacts only from each publication’s own pages, wrote every pitch for that site, and dropped link sellers, networks and inactive sites
- Wrote guest articles to each publication’s own guidelines, for Indian, Australian and UK readers
- Checked every Quran and hadith reference against primary sources and its grading, and removed weak narrations from live posts
- Planned pillar and cluster pages so each URL owns one question, with an overlap check before handover so new pages do not compete with old ones
- Passed paid offers to the client with the price, and turned down paid do-follow links in favour of properly labelled sponsored terms
- Audited the app’s Google Play listing and wrote an app store optimisation plan
Results so far
- Six publications accepted articles within about four weeks of the first pitches
- The first free, do-follow guest post went live 17 days after the programme started
- A full pillar and cluster plan with a brief for every page, with articles written and in review with the client’s scholar
What to keep in mind
Several accepted articles are still waiting to be published, and it is too early to report traffic from this work.
